“Too fucking bad!”

Mobile phone camera snapshot of Thurston Moore and Samara Lubelski in Chelsea Light Moving, June 2013 at Hulen, Bergen, Norway.

Did you miss out on a Chelsea Light Moving concert? “Too fucking bad!!!” I saw them in Bergen on Friday and it was great! So…’guess I could have re-phrased the title of this post to avoid misundestandings but language is too fucking tricky. Bad is good is bad is good.

The newly formed band (started in 2012 by Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth)  recently released their eponymous debut album on Matador Records. Did you know that Moore was ranked 34th in Rolling Stones 2004-edition of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” (ref)? According to Wiki, the band describes their music as “Burroughs-rock”. The song “Burroughs”, according to Moore, is about William S. Burroughs’ last words before he died: “Love? What is it? Most natural painkiller what there is.” The music video for the song features archival video footage and still photography of Burroughs brandishing firearms, shooting heroin etc (ref).

Here I am in a Hotel room reading up on Chelsea Light Moving

This is me in a hotel room somewhere reading up on Chelsea Light Moving and Thurston Moore.

Anyways, here are three tunes: Burroughs, Lip and Mohawk.

PS: If you’re gonna stand right by the speakers at at one of their live shows, you should bring earplugs…I’ve had stars in my ears ever since Friday.
